Welcome to Knotti. This privacy policy explains, clearly and completely, how we handle your data. By using the app you acknowledge and agree to this policy.
- Data We Collect
Knotti is a personal relationship management app that stores all your data locally on your device by default. Data you create while using the app includes:
- Person profiles and fields (name, birthday, nationality, ethnicity, contact details, occupation, personality, etc.), including custom fields you add;
- Interaction records (meetings, calls, messages, gifts, etc., with notes and moods);
- Memorial days (including automatically derived lunar birthdays) and contact reminders;
- Albums and photos, notes and their attachments, media collections;
- Transactions (income and expenses, with currency), relationship graphs, heatmaps, personality matches and social insights;
- Person groups, tags, and your in-app preferences (appearance, sorting, view mode, etc.).
We do not collect your name, email, device identifiers, location, or any other information that could identify you. We do not have accounts, and we do not track you.
- Where Your Data Is Stored
- All structured data is stored in a local SwiftData database on your device.
- Original photos and attachments are stored in the app's sandbox (knotti_photos/ and knotti_attachments/); thumbnails are stored in the database.
- By default, nothing is uploaded to any server, cloud drive, or analytics platform. Your data never leaves your device.
- Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all data. Please protect your data with system backups (e.g., iCloud device backup).
- Permissions
- Photo Library: we request access only when you choose to pick or save an image; we never read or modify your library without authorization.
- Notifications: we request notification permission only when you enable contact or memorial reminders; you can turn them off anytime in System Settings.
- Calendar: if you use the calendar sync feature, we request access to create events in your system calendar (a "Knotti" calendar). This is optional and can be revoked anytime in System Settings.
